This is the kind of thinking that Steve Jobs had and was able to change our world! Before the dawn of the digital camera, Kodak made nearly all of its money from selling film. In a similar manner, before the invention of the iPhone, Apple made a great deal of its money from iPods. Both the iPhone and iPad cannibalise sales of the iPod and MacBook Air, which were highly profitable major product lines. But Apple had the conviction in their belief that the iPhone and iPad were better products which would sell like crazy. Kodak didn’t have the same conviction in their digital technology. Nor the same vision.
Our world of technology moves so fast.....if you don't keep up, you will be left behind...I promise you that!

It's just two guys who
love the Horror Movie world. Like most cool and honest things, they both work in
the industry that they have a personal love and passion for at the same time. Below is a
letter I sent them to let them know what a positive influence its had on me.

>Dear Sean and Chris, I am not a fan of horror movies per se, but I am a fan
of movies period. I caught your show the first time because of your interview
with Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. I've loved movies my whole life and
Project Greenlight is one of my favorite shows. As I watched a couple more
episodes of TTWTH, I realized that the show was making me unusually calm and
happy. At first I didn't quite understand what was happening. I didn't know
anything about your backgrounds, but with a little research I soon found out
that you were both musicians. I am a man that is older than both of you and
and also a musician. I didn't have a day job until I was 41 years old and was
lucky enough to travel the world with my group and enjoy people and places
that I would never had the chance to have to have experienced if I had never
been a musician playing Rock and Roll! My compliments regarding the show seem
to reiterate what so many other of your listeners have noted. Your observance
of the "woke world" we now live in and how it affects your day-to-day lives. I
find myself talking back to my monitor as you give your *Get off My Lawn"
items for the day. Feels as though you're talking right to me sometimes with
the things you say. You make such a great team. Sean with your witty and
sometimes sharp and cutting comments seem to balance Chis who has a tough
looking exterior but very warm heart. Chris is always concerned with
everyone...especially the listeners. That's what's so amazing about him. On
one hand he'll almost bring me to tears and then a few minutes later say "I
hate people". Sean, I looked up some of your bands and you're a Bad Ass
drumer...really really great!!!! I didn't get to hear Chis play bass or
guitar, but I know your good just by your taste in music. As I said in the
beginning of this long dissertation, your show brings calmness and happiness
to me. In today's crazy world that's an amazing accomplishment!! Peace and
love to you both, Billy Csernits......

A big pat of this rock renaissance has been due to the almost local {Frankenmuth Michigan}rock band, Greta Van Fleet. These Michigan brothers (and great drummer, Danny Wagner) started to change the musical climate back in 2017. It is straight forward Blues Based Rock and Roll with a huge amount of comparisons to Led Zeppelin. my wife and I were really excited when we first heard G.V.F....they are a great little rock band. AND...they had begun to change the musical landscape. At the least, I had a reason to NOT TURN OFF the Grammy Awards this past year. They even scored four Grammy Award nominations, one for each major rock category — "Best Rock Album", "Best Rock Song", "Best Rock Performance" — and a "Best New Artist". Don't get me wrong, I love The Foo Fighters, but they have basically been the only so called rock band to attend the Grammy's over the last 10 years! There is.....believe it or not a lot of AMAZING NEW Rock Music out there, you just have to look for it. I keep asking myself "if rock is dead, why is a bio pic about the 70's rock gods "QUEEN" one of the hottest movies of the year?" I personally love 2 new bands that also have their roots in the "Blues" They are "Tyler Bryant & And The Shakedown. This is a GREAT band. Tyler Bryant is an amazing guitar player and singer and has the star quality....what dick face, Simon Cowell called the "X_factor". X-Factor..."It Factor" whatever the fuck...."If it ain't rock and roll it ain't worth a shit" THERE!!! There's my Manifesto! A much more authentic representation of 70's Blues Rock than Greta Van Fleet. Granted they don't sound like Led Zeppelin. But then "who does?". Certainly not GVF! I'm not dissing GVF...I just don't think they have saved R&R. But whenever you come across someone who is as amazing as Tyler Bryant, you will find that they are well versed in the blues masters and this guy has done his homework. Just like The Stones did. Take a look at their beginnings........they listened over and over to Muddy Waters and dissected every Chess record of that Chicago Blues Sound.
Then there are always the great Rock coming from Denmark!! One of my favorite bands of the past 10 years is a little known band called "THE BLUE VAN"
<a href="<a href="">"ICEAGE". Another new Copenhagen Denmark band is ICEAGE.....They are not a new band...I guess they are only to me and the rest of the USA> They have been together over 12 years.....
">
Well...I know I have not come upon any great revelations here, but I can tell you this much, "I still know a great new band when I hear on and I never thought I would be 65 years old, let alone be writing about my passion for rock and roll. But then again, if you asked me at 21 years old "do I think marijuana will be legal soon?"...I would have said "Fuck Ya"....as soon as my generation takes office, everything will change. HA, HA...how little did we know
I think there is a good reason why I have been so obsessed with Beatles History this past year. It reminds me of how much our world changed February 9th, 1964 and how....no matter what new music that came along after that day, there will never be a change like that again. NOT EVER AGAIN! And how lucky I was to have been sitting in front of the family TV that night. Wow....it is pretty amazing to have been there and experienced it. It defiantly changed my life. I had an electric guitar very soon after and fell in love with rock. A love that never went away and never let me down.

Cineblaxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15398486413280451111noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3574159899877127448.post-48880768098950301452015-08-12T18:24:00.001-07:002015-08-12T18:24:50.542-07:00The Biters This is what Rock and Roll is Suppose Be!

The Biters are a young rock and roll band from Atlanta GA. I recently found them just surfing the web. I started Jarvys Cafe' back in 2006 to pay tribute to Detroit Rock and Roll. As time went by, this blog morphed into just paying tribute to any "Great" rock and roll. Over the years, I have written about many bands that I thought fit that "great R&R description. But you know.....as the years have gone by, I have found fewer and fewer bands that even inspired me enough to write a post. This is the first time I have sat down to write a post in a very long time! And it is not because I haven't looked for new bands, it's just that there seem to be fewer and fewer. I have thought a lot about the fact that I have now listened to and loved rock and roll for over 45 years and asked the question "is it because I am just old, that I think the best rock and roll blossomed in 1965 through 1970". The answer is a resounding "NO"...those were just the best years for the "real deal". That is not to say there haven't been great bands through out the years after 1975 to today. There just plain is "the real deal" and "not the real deal". The Biters are the real deal. It reminded me of when I discovered the Sex Pistols or The Black Crows. You just hear immediately. It brings back all those feelings of my reasons for wanting to play rock and roll when I was 13 years old.

His name is Christopher Ameruoso and he has a book about celebs wearing the actual sunglasses collection of Elvis. He was able to access the collection because his collaborator on this great book was Priscilla Presley. Check this out! What a great conversation piece to have sitting on your coffee table.

From "My Fox.com"
What would happen if you took a pair of sunglasses that belonged to Elvis Presley, had close to a hundred celebrities wear them, and shoot their different poses and reactions? That's the premise behind a new book from photographer Christopher Ameruoso, who teamed up with Priscilla Presley, for "Shades of Elvis". Christopher and Priscilla talked about the Elvis legend and how celebrities like Johnny Depp, Elton John, Cher, and others took to sporting the King's shades. "Shades of Elvis" is available only online at Shadesofelvis.net.

In fact my very first post on Cineblax was about Ozan.
He had put together a movie trailer for a film that he was working on called "Meth". He had used a consumer video cam without even a depth of field adapter (remember those?). This trailer was so good that the amateur film forums went crazy, saying that this was all a hoax and that he could not have possibly made something this good with just a cheap video cam. But the truth was he had. It was all real. I thought that this guy was going to be the next big thing. But here it is 2014 and still not many people know who he is. But I do and he is amazing. Here is his latest project called "Crook". Check this out!!!

In some ways both have changed for the better.......in that anyone with an idea, weather it be a song or a screen play...they can record or film their vision with VERY LITTLE money! You can record an amazing sounding song or album right in your bedroom, using only a PC and some microphones. If you have any ability with cameras, you can make a movie that looks exactly like a BIG BUDGET HOLLYWOOD Movie with a camera setup that costs less than 5,000 dollars. That is astonishing when you remember (only 10 years ago) that getting your movie to look like the big boy Hollywood movies would require a 100,000 dollar plus camera setup. So expensive, that 95% of filmmakers would rent equipment because of the high cost of a 35 mm camera or early digital video cinema cameras (like the Sony HDW-F900).
One of the problems that I see (only one guys personal opinion) is that in this whirlwind of technological advancement, the great song or the great story has somehow gotten lost.
Here is an article I found in Entertainment Weekly about Keanu Reeves's new movie. Check it out....I found it to be not only very interesting, but also very true.

Most big-budget action movies these days are just cartoons directed by bad animators. Somewhere between The Matrix and The Bourne Identity, the whole genre lost its brawl. You’ve seen one superhero defend his city from an airship armada, you’ve seen every superhero defend his city from an airship armada. Then there’s John Wick. Simple story, not-so-simple thrills. The story: Someone kills an assassin’s dog, and the assassin (Keanu Reeves) wants vengeance. The thrills: The movie constructs action scenes with patience and delicacy, filming in steady shots that track the careful choreography of Reeves’ punch-shoot rampages. John Wick was directed by a stuntman, and the movie ripples with the straightforward pleasure of watching bodies move on screen the way bodies used to move before greenscreen turned every movie into a Who Framed Roger Rabbit reboot.
They don’t make ‘em like that anymore. Except, suddenly, they do. John Wick (in theaters now) is the latest entry in a genre mini-renaissance—let’s call it New Action: ultraviolent, often R-rated, with minimum backstory and maximum body count. 2012’s The Raid: Redemption sent a squad of supercops (who all know martial arts) into a building filled with supercriminals (who all know martial arts). The same year brought Dredd, which took its Die Hard-trapped-in-a-building plot and dressed it up with garish neon scuzz, like Blade Runner‘s punk-rock little brother.
These things used to be called B movies, but they’re now drawing A-list talent. Steven Soderbergh’s in the club: His underrated Haywire is what happens when one of our most experimental auteurs decides to experiment with punching Michael Fassbender in the face. And Liam Neeson has practically become his own New Action subgenre. Taken is John Wick in Paris; Non-Stop should’ve been The Raid on a plane.

It’s possible to call these movies throwbacks, except they’re throwing back to multiple eras at once. There’s a bit of the ground-level grit of ’70s action cinema: the bloody vengeance of Death Wish, the screeching wheels of The French Connection. But there’s also a strong influence from ’80s beefcake cinema, with its demi-fascist mass-murdering alpha males (see: the Fast & Furious franchise). Yet what makes New Action so revitalizing, and unexpected, is that it can minimize as well as it hyperbolizes. Witness the opening scene of contempo-hipster classic Drive, a car chase shot entirely from the inside of Ryan Gosling’s getaway vehicle.
Cards on the table: I love all these movies. I think they can save cinema. Hollywood’s wannabe saviors have been preaching a Big Spectacle gospel for years now. James Cameron and 3-D and Avatar; Peter Jackson and high frame rates and The Hobbit. All impressive, but what’s been missing is the rush of the real.
If New Action is going to rescue movies, though, it’s going to have to strap on some brass knuckles and batter a few more rules. These movies come on strong, but they’re still playing it safe. The heroes never die, never make any real mistakes. There’s a faint whiff of the miserable modern franchise about them: John Wick never does anything bold enough to close the door on John Wick 2. That’s not a deal breaker, but it’s a shame. The best action movies leave it all on the playing field. The best movies don’t need to save the cool stuff for the sequel.

The toughest part of having a Blog is just keeping the "posts" current. How many blogs do you come across that show the latest post dated over 1 year ago. I know that when I look through the archive history of Cineblax, I see many many spots where I haven't posted for many months. In fact the last post I did about the Digital Bolex is dated "Sunday, September 22, 2013". Here is what amazes me: Whenever I tell someone (a friend or acquaintance) about my Cineblax Blog, I tell them the story from my "about me" header (directly to the right) and how I took the advice about my screenwriting and applied to this Blog. The part that amazes me, is that my statement (from over 2 years ago)about how the main theme of the Cineblax Blog is how you can now take a $1000 camera and make a movie that can rival "the look of a Hollywood blockbuster" still feels like I could of written it yesterday. The only difference is that the $1000 camera just keeps getting better and better!
I was having a lunch time discussion about Digital Cameras and how Filmmaking is my PASSION with a co-worker and I of course took the opportunity to try and recruit another reader for my blog. I found myself singing the praises of another new amazing Digital Video Camera that shoots images that are absolutely Beautiful! That camera is the new Sony A7. This is the first mirrorless camera with a full-frame 35mm sensor, in a body that is much smaller than a DSLR. At $1700 (for the body only), the Sony A7 seems a little expensive, but when you really look at what your getting, I think it's a BARGIN! Forking over $1700 for the A7 seems like a lot, but it's around the same as the cheapest new full-frame DSLRs like the Canon 6D or Nikon D600.
This small mirrorless camera has interchangeable lens. Put on a nice Voigtländer 40mm f/1.4 NOKTON Classic lens ($414 at Adoramaa) and you have a full 35mm sensor camera with a beautiful small lens that fits in the palm of your hand. This was shot by Steve Huff with the A7

Here is some test footage from Michael Plescia . It looks like a 1970's gangster movie. Some don't like this type of look. It is graded with "grain" and is certainly not "Video Sharp". I happen to love it. Can't wait to buy a Digital Bolex!
The new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera is a RAW-shooting body that will fit into your pocket. Who could of ever imagined even 3 years ago, that you could buy a camera that fits in the palm of your hand and can take hi resolution video with depth of field that rivals anything that cost 100K plus back when this digital video became a real alternative to film. In July you can buy this camera for 995 dollars. Check this out!
We talk a lot about technology and how it has affected the indie film maker's ability to make films that ascetically look like a Hollywood Production. When talking about this subject, we always make sure to state that having great cameras at an affordable price is huge step forward, BUT the film maker still needs to have that MOST important ingredient called "Talent". Well this Roberto Miller certainly appears to have talent, if the trailer is any indication.

Here is my very first movie recommendation: GO SEE "NOT FADE AWAY"!

Finally a great movie about being in a rock and roll band. Those of you who have followed my bog, know that I wrote a screenplay in 2009 about a kid in a rock and roll band that takes place in the early 70's when rock and roll decadence was still "politically correct". I never got my screen play even read by the right people, let alone made into a movie. So in some ways, seeing a movie about what happens when a group of young kids get together and make a rock band.....is kinda of disheartening. Only because that magic that seems to happen when the band is really locked in and playing for an audience is what my movie was really about at it's core. And Not Fade Away is about the same thing. Life continues to happen all around you, but when you get on that stage and you have a real connection with the other band members....you somehow are transported to another dimension. Now this does not happen with every band. in fact it happens pretty rarely. But I was lucky enough to have played in band where this did happen. And even more important, it actually was documented in a DVD and an Autobiography. At the time it was happening, i don't know if I even realized how lucky I was. But when I go back and listen to the records we made (30 years later...ouch!!).....you can hear it. That is if you are really listening.
Check out this movie......if you LOVE ROCK AND ROLL.
The Blackmagic Cinema Camera took the Digital Video World by storm this year. It came out of nowhere and trampled over all the DLSRs! If you were to have told me even 1 year ago that I could buy a video camera that shot in 12 bit RAW with a 2.5K image sensor and wide 13 stops of dynamic range for 3000 dollars....I would of said "Oh SURE" wasn't that called "Scarlet". yes, RED did finally bring us the Scarlet....but with the accessories you still would shell our 15K plus. Still am amazing camera for 15K, but then here comes the BMCC for a real 3K! So I am asking Santa for a Blackmagic this Christmas and while I am dreaming maybe he could throw a Zeiss Prime CP.2 lens in his bag for me.
Well. a boy can dream...can't he?
I do not usually blog about music on my cineblax blog...(I have a music blog called Jarvys Cafe.....for that). But my Birthday is coming in a few days and I wanted to tell my cineblax readers about a musician that has found a place in my soul. Butch makes me feel the same way that a young kid feels when he first discovered Rock and Roll. Yea....I know, that sounds a little esoteric.but really music is such an amazing art form. A great song can make you feel all kinds of emotions that nothing else can. For me....that happened a lot when I was a teenager
and in my 20's. But as I got older, the feeling seemed to kind of "fade away". That was until I came across Butch Walker. And what is even more amazing is that I discovered Butch way back in 1997 and I have have gone on a musical journey with him as he found his way through the landscape of metal, powerpop, hard rock, and all the crazy people. places, and bullshit that came at him for the last 15 years.... I now believe Butch Walker is the premier American Songwriter and Performer alive today! If you don't know about Butch....PLEASE, do yourself a favor and get his latest album, The Spade.
Cineblaxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15398486413280451111noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3574159899877127448.post-20630153881336326952012-07-01T19:33:00.000-07:002012-07-03T20:07:57.053-07:00IKEA all-in-one TV

Ikea has such great style. If I could have a brand new home and all new furnishings. It would diffidently be all Ikea. Why didn't I think of this? It is so smart to sell the whole solution. And it is not crazy expensive...like $1500 for everything. When you talk about having a company put in a home theater solution....it is in the 5 figures area easy! Check out their newest idea for a TV / Entertainment Console. Just amazing!!!

Get performance that would give most DSLRs camera envy, including interchangeable lenses, a 2359K dot Tru-Finder™ OLED electronic viewfinder, up to 10fps shooting, and outstanding Tri-Navi™ 3-dial manual control. Record amazing HD movies in super-smooth 60p, standard 60i or cinematic24p, all at Full HD 1920x1080 resolution. Sony has not been the front runner in so many areas that they once were, but this camera could put them back on top!! This will be my next camera and I can't wait to shoot video with it!
The Luminous Landscape has this to say about the NEX-7
The NEX-7 truly appears to be the photographic equivalent of a PocketBattleship. It's small and light enough to be carried all day in one hand,yet has the image quality capabilities of a much larger camera. With its very bright and high resolution electronic viewfinder it surpasses the eye level viewing of most APS-C DSLRs, with their small tunnel-vision viewpoints – though as mentioned, shadows do block up in the viewfinder in high contrast situations. When it comes to video, theNEX-7 has it all, including full HD 1080P at 60 fps, and 24fps for aspiring film makers<span one="" style="display: block;" really="" has="" to="" ask="" s="" not="" at="" under="" us="" 200="" for="" a="" 24mp="" even="" the="" price="" is="" i="" predict="" that="" 7="" will="" be="" of="" hottest="" cameras="" coming="" and="" going="" put="" other="" camera="" feet="" fire="" when="" it="" comes="" offering="" an="" attractive="" mix="" image="" build="" quality="" sony="" clearly="" made="" decision="" make="" 7as="" full="" featured="" as="" holding="" back="" any="" their="" available="" features="" or="" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2CloO5EjL1E/T3CRZNECtYI/AAAAAAAABlc/ux8rMSNrsH8/s1600/NEX_WONDO_CAGE2_LOGO.jpg">Cineblaxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15398486413280451111noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3574159899877127448.post-14770679458247155432012-03-04T07:15:00.008-08:002012-03-04T07:30:50.861-08:00Cineblax Future / No More Square Bricks

It won't be long and we will be wearing our cell phones.
Our world of technology moves so fast.....if you don't keep up, you will be left behind...I promise you that!Cineblaxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15398486413280451111noreply@blogger.com0
