UPDATE JULY 24, 2024. 13 years after this little BIO was made. Everything that I said seems to have really held true. The video camera has just continued to become amazing over the past years since this was originally written As an example the Canon C300 has really held it's own as many film makers are still using them. Canon's latest camera in this family is the C400.

With all the amazing cameras in 2024, including the RED cameras, which have become a Hollywood director's staple. Especially The Red Komodo.....

But I beleive the most amazing video camera today (which is under $600) is tht DJI Osmo Pocket 3.

"If you don't cannibalize yourself, someone else will"

Kodak is going BANKRUPT!

Former Kodak VP Don Strickland -

“We developed the world’s first consumer digital camera. Kodak could have launched it in 1992. We could not get approval to launch it because of fear of the cannibalisation of film.”

Steve Jobs -

“If you don’t cannibalize yourself, someone else will.”

Who is the Smarter CEO? This is the kind of thinking that Steve Jobs had and was able to change our world! Before the dawn of the digital camera, Kodak made nearly all of its money from selling film. In a similar manner, before the invention of the iPhone, Apple made a great deal of its money from iPods. Both the iPhone and iPad cannibalise sales of the iPod and MacBook Air, which were highly profitable major product lines. But Apple had the conviction in their belief that the iPhone and iPad were better products which would sell like crazy. Kodak didn’t have the same conviction in their digital technology. Nor the same vision.
Our world of technology moves so fast.....if you don't keep up, you will be left behind...I promise you that!

The Thing With Two Heads Podcast

I recently found a YouTube channel that I really love. It's just two guys who love the Horror Movie world. Like most cool and honest things, they both work in the industry that they have a personal love and passion for at the same time. Below is a letter I sent them to let them know what a positive influence its had on me.
Dear Sean and Chris, I am not a fan of horror movies per se, but I am a fan of movies period. I caught your show the first time because of your interview with Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. I've loved movies my whole life and Project Greenlight is one of my favorite shows. As I watched a couple more episodes of TTWTH, I realized that the show was making me unusually calm and happy. At first I didn't quite understand what was happening. I didn't know anything about your backgrounds, but with a little research I soon found out that you were both musicians. I am a man that is older than both of you and and also a musician. I didn't have a day job until I was 41 years old and was lucky enough to travel the world with my group and enjoy people and places that I would never had the chance to have to have experienced if I had never been a musician playing Rock and Roll! My compliments regarding the show seem to reiterate what so many other of your listeners have noted. Your observance of the "woke world" we now live in and how it affects your day-to-day lives. I find myself talking back to my monitor as you give your *Get off My Lawn" items for the day. Feels as though you're talking right to me sometimes with the things you say. You make such a great team. Sean with your witty and sometimes sharp and cutting comments seem to balance Chis who has a tough looking exterior but very warm heart. Chris is always concerned with everyone...especially the listeners. That's what's so amazing about him. On one hand he'll almost bring me to tears and then a few minutes later say "I hate people". Sean, I looked up some of your bands and you're a Bad Ass drumer...really really great!!!! I didn't get to hear Chis play bass or guitar, but I know your good just by your taste in music. As I said in the beginning of this long dissertation, your show brings calmness and happiness to me. In today's crazy world that's an amazing accomplishment!! Peace and love to you both, Billy Csernits...... Jarvy Loves This!! Check them out....Promise you'll like it!

Rock IS BACK!!!!....OR IS IT?

It will be 2020 very soon and this past year there has been a alot of "talk" about Rock coming back to it's former GLORY. A big pat of this rock renaissance has been due to the almost local {Frankenmuth Michigan}rock band, Greta Van Fleet. These Michigan brothers (and great drummer, Danny Wagner) started to change the musical climate back in 2017. It is straight forward Blues Based Rock and Roll with a huge amount of comparisons to Led Zeppelin. my wife and I were really excited when we first heard G.V.F....they are a great little rock band. AND...they had begun to change the musical landscape. At the least, I had a reason to NOT TURN OFF the Grammy Awards this past year. They even scored four Grammy Award nominations, one for each major rock category — "Best Rock Album", "Best Rock Song", "Best Rock Performance" — and a "Best New Artist". Don't get me wrong, I love The Foo Fighters, but they have basically been the only so called rock band to attend the Grammy's over the last 10 years! There is.....believe it or not a lot of AMAZING NEW Rock Music out there, you just have to look for it. I keep asking myself "if rock is dead, why is a bio pic about the 70's rock gods "QUEEN" one of the hottest movies of the year?" I personally love 2 new bands that also have their roots in the "Blues" They are "Tyler Bryant & And The Shakedown. This is a GREAT band. Tyler Bryant is an amazing guitar player and singer and has the star quality....what dick face, Simon Cowell called the "X_factor". X-Factor..."It Factor" whatever the fuck...."If it ain't rock and roll it ain't worth a shit" THERE!!! There's my Manifesto! A much more authentic representation of 70's Blues Rock than Greta Van Fleet. Granted they don't sound like Led Zeppelin. But then "who does?". Certainly not GVF! I'm not dissing GVF...I just don't think they have saved R&R. But whenever you come across someone who is as amazing as Tyler Bryant, you will find that they are well versed in the blues masters and this guy has done his homework. Just like The Stones did. Take a look at their beginnings........they listened over and over to Muddy Waters and dissected every Chess record of that Chicago Blues Sound.
Then there are always the great Rock coming from Denmark!! One of my favorite bands of the past 10 years is a little known band called "THE BLUE VAN"

">"ICEAGE". Another new Copenhagen Denmark band is ICEAGE.....They are not a new band...I guess they are only to me and the rest of the USA> They have been together over 12 years.....

">
Well...I know I have not come upon any great revelations here, but I can tell you this much, "I still know a great new band when I hear on and I never thought I would be 65 years old, let alone be writing about my passion for rock and roll. But then again, if you asked me at 21 years old "do I think marijuana will be legal soon?"...I would have said "Fuck Ya"....as soon as my generation takes office, everything will change. HA, HA...how little did we know
I think there is a good reason why I have been so obsessed with Beatles History this past year. It reminds me of how much our world changed February 9th, 1964 and how....no matter what new music that came along after that day, there will never be a change like that again. NOT EVER AGAIN! And how lucky I was to have been sitting in front of the family TV that night. Wow....it is pretty amazing to have been there and experienced it. It defiantly changed my life. I had an electric guitar very soon after and fell in love with rock. A love that never went away and never let me down.

Shades Of Elvis

I found a GREAT photographer one night while just surfin' the net. His name is Christopher Ameruoso and he has a book about celebs wearing the actual sunglasses collection of Elvis. He was able to access the collection because his collaborator on this great book was Priscilla Presley. Check this out! What a great conversation piece to have sitting on your coffee table.
From "My Fox.com"
What would happen if you took a pair of sunglasses that belonged to Elvis Presley, had close to a hundred celebrities wear them, and shoot their different poses and reactions? That's the premise behind a new book from photographer Christopher Ameruoso, who teamed up with Priscilla Presley, for "Shades of Elvis". Christopher and Priscilla talked about the Elvis legend and how celebrities like Johnny Depp, Elton John, Cher, and others took to sporting the King's shades. "Shades of Elvis" is available only online at Shadesofelvis.net.

Ozan Biron's New Project

Ozan Biron first came to my attention back in 2008. In fact my very first post on Cineblax was about Ozan. He had put together a movie trailer for a film that he was working on called "Meth". He had used a consumer video cam without even a depth of field adapter (remember those?). This trailer was so good that the amateur film forums went crazy, saying that this was all a hoax and that he could not have possibly made something this good with just a cheap video cam. But the truth was he had. It was all real. I thought that this guy was going to be the next big thing. But here it is 2014 and still not many people know who he is. But I do and he is amazing. Here is his latest project called "Crook". Check this out!!!
