Jarvy’s Best Rock & Roll Bands in 2024_2nd page

Danko Jones

The first time I heard Danko Jone was 2006 when I heard “My Baby Hates” from the LP, “Sleep Is The Enemy”.  It was his 3rd album out of the 11 LPs he’s made starting in 2003.  Danko Jones is the kind of Rock Artist that never gives up.  Anyone can see that. He has won 6 Juno Awards and countless other Canadian music accolades.  But like so many Canadian musicians never translated the success into the USA. But I still have not given up hope.  Just listen to his new song of his brand new 2024 album “Electric Sounds” called “Guess Who’s Back”.  It opens with the lyric “Guess who's back? Me, motherfucker.  Take your best shot. Cause I don't give a damn”.

Tuk Smith

Tuk Smith has been one of my top 5 rock artist in the last 10 years. One of the biggest compliments I ever received was from the Legendary and AMAZING Bass Player, Mark Gougeon.  He once told me through a Facebook message when I posted Tuk Smiths first solo album. Mark said that I always had a “Leg Up” on the newest R&R!  That I had turned him onto Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker’s first album when absolutely no one knew who they were.  And here I am again with Tuk Smith. (Thanks Mark!)  I still think this guy has “IT”.  Whatever “IT” is, Tuk’s got it……100%!

Michael Monroe

If you know Rock and Roll, then you know (or should know) Michael Monroe. MM start the band “Hanoi Rocks” They basically were the “Blue Print” for Guns and Roses (Axl Rose verified) and all the clone bands from the 80’s that came after.  Then horrible car accident at took HR drummer, Nicholas Dingley, better known as Razzle’s life changed everything.  Michael went on to have a great solo career, making some of the best R&R I have ever heard. He is still going strong at the age of 62 years old.  Do yourself a favor, check this guy out!

The L.A. Maybe

“Forged in the southern heat of the Carolinas, these guys channel the one-two punch of Australia’s most rocking (Airbourne, Rose Tattoo, AC/DC…) plus a few tricks from the GN’R and Black Crowes vaults. The result? A riotously fun romp through the (pre-Covid) Tinseltown sunshine.” - Classic Rock Magazine -     The L.A. Maybe pioneered the New Wave of Classic Rock by being familiar enough to capture your attention

The Cold Stares

The Cold Stares are an American rock band from Evansville, Indiana, formed in 2009. The duo (now recently a trio) has independently released four studio albums - A Cold Wet Night (2014), Head Bent (2017), Mountain (2018), and Ways (2019) - with their fifth release Heavy Shoes released via Mascot Records on August 13, 2021. For almost ten years, The Cold Stares had toured the world relentlessly as a duo, blowing away audiences across the US and Europe with a fierce, blistering live show that belied their bare bones, guitar-and-drums setup. In 2023 the band began embracing a whole new kind of chemistry and launched into their next chapter, adding a third member and channeling the classic power trio sound they grew up on with their explosive acclaimed album, Voices

 Wunderhorse

Wunderhorse are an English rock band formed in 2020 by frontman and songwriter Jacob Slater. Initially a solo project, Wunderhorse became a full band in 2021, with Slater (vocals, guitar) being joined by Harry Tristan Fowler (guitar), Peter Woodin (bass) and Jamie Staples (drums). They have released two albums and toured internationally.  When I discovered this band, I must admit, my FAITH in rock and roll was restored. That may sound crazy, but it is all true.  Take a listen to their new album, “MIDAS”.
